To promote Ghanaian music, Afua Asantewaa is attempting a world record with her singathon. The CEO of ASKOF Productions, Mrs. Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, wants to beat the record for the longest singing period by singing exclusively songs from Ghana.
India’s Sunil Waghmare holds the record for the longest singathon, which is 105 hours, from March 3–7, 2012.
Madam Asantewaa clarified on social media that she will only be performing songs from Ghana in an effort to be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.
“I want to beat this record in 117 hours, and I’m trying to do this by promoting and performing solely Ghanaian music, including gospel, highlife, and hiplife songs. This December, the attempt is scheduled to take place,” she stated.
It is noteworthy that, should Madam Asantewaa’s attempt be successful, she would become the fifth person from Ghana to be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Among many other successful projects in Ghana, Madam Asantewaa is the creator of the Ghana Outstanding Women’s Award, Pose for Africa, Miss Kidi, and Sports Arena.
