Nigeria summons all foreign ambassadors. The recall of all career and non-career ambassadors from their overseas assignments was ordered by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on Saturday.
The investigation of the situation at Nigerian consulates and embassies around the world led to this action, according to a statement from the president’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.
This action is in keeping with the Nigerian president’s resolve to “ensure that world-class efficiency and quality, will henceforth, characterize foreign and domestic service delivery to citizens, residents, and prospective visitors alike,” according to Ngelale.
In light of the impending UN General Assembly, which will take place later this month, Nigeria’s permanent representatives to the UN offices in New York and Geneva are excluded from the recall, he noted.
