Konongo arrests fake police officers. Isaac Kofi Boakye, who had been posing as a police officer with the Formed Police Unit (FPU) for six months, has been taken into custody by police in Konongo, Ashanti Region.
Boakye claimed to be on sick leave prior to his detention and described himself as a police Chief Inspector working out of the FPU Headquarters in Accra.
A police brief provided to the Ghana News Agency stated that the officers recovered two inspector and chief inspector ranks, two lanyards, a pair of black police boots, a pair of handcuffs, a beret, a camouflage cap, and a long black sleeve and camouflage police uniforms with his name, “IK Boakye,” boldly embossed on them.
According to the brief, the exhibits and the suspect’s photo were taken for evidentiary purposes. He is supporting the police in their inquiries.
