December concert bookings are unfair to female artists, argues AK Songstres. In the entertainment sector, Akosua Kwakye, better known as AK Songstress, has claimed that reservations for December concerts in Ghana are unjust.
In an interview with Property FM in Cape Coast, she informed Amansan Krakye that female performers are underrepresented in the majority of shows.
as observed by amagabby.com, she stated “The number of female musicians in Ghana is not fairly represented in terms of bookings for shows, particularly this December.”
However, you also have to confront the reality that, as you mentioned, there are more men than women in the entertainment sector, thus in everything, the larger group always wins.
“We’re doing our best and we’re not in the game so I think the organizers also have certain things they consider before booking artistes for their events,” AK Songstress continued.
It’s sad that most of the concerts are dominated by men, but perhaps they believe that there are only a few female musicians that they can hire for a show.
